Marion Maxwell Barkley, Jr.
4/11/1942 - 1/4/2025
Marion Barkley, Jr., of Port St. Lucie, Florida, beloved husband, father, and grandfather transitioned peacefully from this earth to his heavenly home in the early morning hours of January 4, 2025. Born in the Pleasant City neighborhood in West Palm Beach, Marion was a God-fearing, hardworking man, who positively impacted countless lives during his lifetime.
Marion was known for his passion for family, cooking, Gospel music, cars, action movies and traveling across the country as a tractor trailer truck driver.
Marion overcame tremendous hardship and obstacles throughout his life with his unshakable faith in Jesus Christ, determination and a sense of humor that brought joy to all he came into contact with over the years. He spent countless hours dedicating his time to cooking for his family and churches, as well as charitable organizations to feed the homeless community. After retiring from truck driving, Marion became a charter bus operator, which he did until his final retirement at age 80.
To cherish his legacy and memory, Marion leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Gail Barkley, daughter Jacquelyn Barkley Anderson, sons Jonathan Barkley (Robyn), Rodney Barkley, and Michael Barkley, sisters Altamease Barkley, Cynthia Barkley and Sheila Barkley Milton, “adopted” brother Selbrant Ramsay, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends across the country. Marion was preceded in death by his mother Muriel Barkley, father Marion Barkley, Sr., and brothers Robert Barkley and Gil Barkley.
To honor Marion’s request, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. Marion’s family welcomes all to share their fondest memory of Marion in the community guestbook.
