Betty Bowers
Kendrick
November 18, 1939 – March 28, 2026
Betty Bowers Kendrick, RN, CPPT, of Riviera Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026. Born on November 18, 1939, to Rossie Bowers and Rosa Mae Jackson, Betty lived a life marked by faithful service, quiet strength, and lasting impact. Betty was a distinguished public servant, healthcare professional, fiduciary leader, and business executive whose life reflected a deep commitment to service, leadership, and stewardship.
A Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Florida since April 8, 1985, she has devoted more than 40 years to the nursing profession. Betty began her career at Good Samaritan Hospital, where she quickly distinguished herself through clinical excellence and leadership. She later served with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, continuing her nursing work in a demanding public-sector environment. At both institutions, she served as a Supervisor of Nursing, mentoring staff and upholding high standards of patient care and professional accountability. She concluded her nursing career in private duty nursing, while also training and mentoring other nurses. Beyond healthcare, Betty was a co-founder of NuJak Construction of South Florida, which she started alongside her son. She served as Vice President for five years, helping establish the company’s early foundation, governance, and culture of integrity.
A cornerstone of her civic legacy was her service on the City of Riviera Beach General Employees Pension Board, where she served continuously from 1995 to 2026. After earning her designation as a State of Florida Certified Public Pension Trustee in 1999, she remained committed to fiduciary excellence and best practices. She was reappointed multiple times by former Mayor Reverend Thomas Masters and former Mayor Ronnie Felder, a reflection of the trust placed in her leadership and judgment.
In 2000, Betty was elected Chairman of the General Employees Pension Board, a role she held for more than two decades. She provided steady, principled leadership marked by transparency, fiscal responsibility, and long-term pension fund stability. While building her professional career and serving the community, Betty remained deeply devoted to her family. She raised five children—Bonnie, Frances, Brenda, Frank, and Charisma—instilling in them values of faith, perseverance, and service. She was also a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Central to Betty’s life was her faith in God. For nearly 50 years, she served faithfully at Greater Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, including more than 40 years in the Nurses Guild. Through her ministry and service, she touched countless lives and remained a steady spiritual influence within her church and community.
